Laura L. Lichter, Founder/Managing Partner, se habla español
Laura Lichter is national President of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”), the premier bar association of immigration lawyers and law professors in the U.S. She has been an elected member of AILA’s national leadership for over a decade and has served as the association's top liaison to the key immigration enforcement bureaus of the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is responsible for immigration investigations, prosecution, detention and removal operations, and the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), which oversees the nation’s immigration court system. Ms. Lichter is AILA’s liaison to the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration and serves on the Federal Bar Association’s Immigration Law Section Advisory Board. Ms. Lichter recently served on the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC) Task Force on ICE’s Secure Communities program, reporting to findings on the ICE enforcement initiative to DHS Secretary Napolitano. Based in Denver, she is the former Chair of AILA’s Colorado Chapter. Ms. Lichter’s practice focuses on the representation of foreign nationals in removal proceedings, contested family and naturalization applications, administrative appeals, and related federal district and appellate court litigation. A nationally-recognized mentor and immigration law expert, Ms. Lichter is a respected author who lectures throughout the United States on cutting edge immigration issues. Her commitment to community outreach, education, pro bono representation of indigent clients, and access to counsel has been demonstrated through various awards, projects, and related initiatives. Ms. Lichter is an avid equestrian, runner, and part-time rancher.
Mark R. Barr, Senior Associate Attorney
Mark Barr is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he served as a general editor and author on Law Review and was a member of the Order of St. Ives. Before joining the private bar, he completed a judicial internship at the Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR) at the U.S. Immigration Court in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Barr is a long-standing member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s respected Amicus Committee, authoring, co-authoring and coordinating amicus briefing and litigation strategies before various Federal courts on issues of critical importance to immigration law and policy. Mr. Barr lectures locally and nationally on issues related to removal defense, asylum, and federal litigation of immigration matters. Before his reincarnation as an immigration attorney, Mr. Barr received a B.S. degree in cell biology from Cornell University and worked in research laboratories at Cornell, Yale and S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical University. He is also the father of five—including two green card holders he and his wife adopted from Ethiopia.
Alyssa C. Reed, Senior Associate Attorney, se habla español
Alyssa Reed completed her legal education at the University of Iowa College of Law, graduating with high honors and a merit award from the National Association of Women Lawyers. She completed her undergraduate degrees (B.A. and B.S.) with honors, at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Ms. Reed currently chairs the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s national-level liaison committee on VAWA and related issues; she also serves on AILA’s national liaison committee to USCIS’s Vermont Service Center. Locally, Ms. Reed is a member of the Executive Committee of AILA’s Colorado Chapter. Ms. Reed is a frequent lecturer on immigration options for victims of crime and survivors of domestic violence.. She has lived in Costa Rica and studied at the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. Ms. Reed is heavily committed to pro bono and community outreach, and regularly works with victims, farm workers and other needy populations. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
Ashley T. Harrington, Associate Attorney, se habla español
Ashley Turner Harrington is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Law. During law school, Ms. Harrington successfully represented immigrants and asylum seekers in volunteer internships with the Rocky Mountain Survivors Center and the Immigrant Legal Center of Boulder County. Prior to law school, she worked as a legal assistant and as an advocate with immigrant survivors of domestic violence. Ms. Harrington grew up in Denver, Colorado where she now lives with her husband, two children, and two dogs. She is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Magda K. Mobley, Managing Paralegal
Magda Mobley, Managing Paralegal, is a native of Poland who completed her graduate work in Business Administration at the Gdynia Maritime University. A former pro bono client of the firm, Magda brings hands-on immigration experience—including six weeks in ICE detention and almost two years in removal proceedings—to her over seven years with the firm. She has volunteered at numerous immigration law conferences and was recently invited to speak at the American Immigration Lawyers Association Paralegal Training Conference in Washington, DC. Magda, now a proud US citizen, speaks fluent English and Polish.
Maite Lara-Roca, Paralegal, se habla español
Maite spent her formative years in Spain and is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. She has a double degree in Anthropology and Communication from the University of Colorado, Denver, and, in addition to being a certified interpreter and professional translator, Maite also has a certificate in Paralegal Studies and Mediation. She joined Lichter Immigration after ten years in the non-profit world, four of which she worked exclusively with battered immigrants as a Board of Immigration Appeals Accredited Representative.
Raquel Camacho, Front Desk Manager, se habla español
Raquel Camacho, our front desk manager, brings nearly two decades experience in administrative support to Lichter Immigration. Always ready to help, Raquel brings her friendly, can-do attitude to arrange consultations for potential clients, as well as assisting existing clients. Raquel attended the University of Colorado, Denver, and is a graduate of North High School. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
